Sort table rows
Sorts table rows alphabetically, by value, or by date.
Each of these categories can be in ascending or descending order.
There are three levels of sorting.
Method for sorting table rows:
Click in or select a table.
Enter the column number to sort by first. (Table columns are numbered left to right. The leftmost column is column 1.)
Choose the sort type from the selection box. This can be 'text', 'number' or 'date'.
Choose to sort in ascending or descending order.
Repeat these steps for sort levels 2 and 3 if there are any duplicates in the sort column. (eg, in the example below, there are three entries of 'dogs' in column 1. So then a second sort level is needed.)
Indicate if there are header or footer rows. These will not be included in the sort.
Click OK.
NOTE: Formatting moves with the sorted columns. (See below). This is easily fixed in the 'Format tables' tab.
