Gender Check is a 'Google Doc add-on', which adds functionality to Google Docs.
To use Gender Check, you need a Google account with access to Google Drive.
It helps teachers!
Say you have a nice university reference or report comment you used for a male student last year, but you want to reuse it for a female student this year. Then changing all the 'he', 'his' and other gender related words can be tricky, and mistakes are embarrassing and easy to overlook.
That's why I made Gender Check!
It can accurately convert documents from male to female or female to male.
Also, it can scan for gender errors.
While grammar checkers may underline some gender errors, Gender Check highlights the whole paragraph bright yellow if it detects a gender error, then allows you to correct the errors with one click!
Have fun!

The diagram below shows how changing genders of simple pronouns between male and female is not at all simple.
It all depends on context, so there is a lot of fancy logic in Gender Check to make it reliable!
NOTE:
A lot of other gender related words are also included.
A 'He/She' gender is included, as generic documents are often stored that way.
So you can easily convert your documents into this form for storage, then convert them to either male or female as required.
A lot of 'neutral' genders are recognised, so that if you obtain documents written that way you can easily convert them to male, female or 'he/she'.
The three settings of gender detection options (shown below) change the behavour of gender word scanning and conversions in Gender Check:
Use this option if the text you are scanning or converting from has only male or female gender words.
This is the faster because there is less scanning required.
Use this option if the text you are scanning or converting from text contains neutral gender words, but you want to avoid 'they', 'them', 'their' etc. being recognised as gender words.
Use this option if the text you are scanning or converting from text containing neutral gender words, and you want 'they', 'them', 'their' etc. to be recognised as gender words as well.
A tiny, insignificant, once-only outlay is all it takes to enjoy Gender Check after the free trial. (Buy a license here.)
To unlock Gender Check, go to the Google Doc Extensions menu, select 'Gender Check', then 'Enter license key'. (See diagram below)
Then copy/paste the license key from your purchase email.
Because I am asking for some small contribution from my users, I will do my best to improve, debug and upgrade this software to keep it useful and relevant.
After using Gender Check to change text, always proofread. This is an automated system that cannot be100% perfect.
If Gender Check inserts incorrect pronouns, the 'Spelling and grammar check' function in Google Docs will enable you to locate these and correct them with a single click.
Do not perform multiple conversions on the same text. Rather, use the 'undo' function in Google Docs to return the text to its original state. Then perform an alternate conversion.
